MIDI Lab Guidelines

•Please check in with Lab Monitor as you enter, and show ID if requested.

•Please sign in each time you use the Midi Lab.

•The PSU MIDI Lab is provided for activities directly related to your music classes at PSU. Please don't use the facility for general activities like checking email and web browsing.

•More specifically, do not use the MIDI Lab for downloading music, images, or files of any kind except as specifically associated with a music department assignment. Failure to comply with this important rule may result in expulsion from the lab.

•No food or drink of any kind are allowed in the lab. Please leave containers outside.

•The MIDI Lab printer is for work directly related to music department courses. Please use sparingly, and do not use the MIDI Lab printer for any other printing.

•Leave your work station the way you found it, including headphones, startup disk, screen preferences, pens/pencils, paperwork.

•Likewise, leave the desktop of your computer free of added files. When finished, and after backing up, move all your files to Student Work folder, or to the Trash. You do not need to empty the Trash.

•Please leave a single set of headphones wrapped and plugged into the computer at your station when your work is done. If you have used the headphones to monitor the keyboard synthesizer via an adaptor, please leave the adaptor connected to the headphone jack of the keyboard synthesizer after you have unplugged the headphones.

•Do not install any applications of any kind onto MIDI Lab computers. If you need an application that you do not find, make a request to the Lab Monitor or the Lab Supervisors.

•During busy times, please limit lab use to a single hour at a time.

•As a courtesy to other students, please do not make unnecessary noise.

•If you are having challenges with equipment or applications, or to report unapproved activities in the Midi Lab, please alert your Lab Monitor, or contact supervisors Brad Hansen or Jon Newton
